E is for... Ella-Tino!

Getting very exciting about the new brand I'm working with. Ella-Tino are an Essex based brand run by some of Essex's finest, loveliest girls who bring such character and fun to the brand. A regular stop for the cast of TOWIE, they are most famous in their stores for their eye-catching crystal jewellery and padlock handbags, but now stock clothes and shoes; so have everything one would need for a party!

P is for... Pearl necklace!?

A little bit shocked to come across THESE statement jewellery pieces this afternoon (sorry Mum)!

J is for... J Crew!

So excited about J Crew's UK website! I could literally buy everything.

But here are my picks for now...

J is for... Jamie's.

My Mum's visiting this week! She toyed with the idea last week and then decided she would come yesterday on a whim, I got a couple of urgent text messages announcing her arrival, and we met after I finished work. We decided that since Jamie Oliver's restaurant, Jamie's Italian, is new in town that we'd check it out; you know, just because it's new, we don't really like eating or anything like that... So my mother, my cousin Hattie and I went to see what all the fuss was about. I say fuss... I'd actually heard nothing but bad reviews, but we had a good time! Unfortunately my camera ran out of battery so I didn't get to get a lot of photos, but I got a few and stole a couple.

S is for... Submarine!

My cousin Hattie and I had a bit of a funny night last night. We were both in weird moods and decided we had better do something lethargic in a bid to counteract our instability. It was probably all the excitement of the weekend (which, FYI was actually relatively non-eventful). So our first thought was to go and see the Inbetweeners movie- but we were unable to get tickets. Hattie's only real wish was to have a glass of wine, and so, to compromise, we decided to hire a film and take a trip to Bargain Booze (I took the opportunity in the car to endeavour to learn Hattie of the joys of Wu-Tang- she was less than impressed, by both The Wu and my driving to The Wu).

W is for.... Wrong.

Trailing the Internet as I tend to do when I'm inbetween books and the television isn't quite enough to get me interested, I was unfortunate enough last night to stumble across this website: http://www.jours-apres-lunes.com.

Now when I started this blog, it was with the aim of keeping it lighthearted; an easy read. I am however pretty shocked by this website and felt the need to share. Here's why...

B is for.... Baking.

Being the excellent employee that i am (for evidence, please see below), I decided that I would go that extra mile and make cakes for my colleagues for today. I was extra good and made both normal butterfly cakes with a jam surprise (!) and ALSO Slimming World cakes so that those on-diet colleagues would be able to enjoy as well (except they didn't, as the Slimming World ones were gross.). Baking is like therapy for me, I was really happy about it.

C is for... Compensation.

Just wanted to do a follow up on my previous blog and show you what Hannah received from missguided.co.uk by means of apology:

:)

L.

C is for... Customer Service.

I just wanted to post and say that after my previous blog about missguided.co.uk, they have really excelled themselves. Their customer service has been fantastic, responding straight away to rectify the situation and to make Hannah feel a valued customer. Definitely won me over and I know that Hannah is more than happy with the way the situation has been resolved. Credit where credit's due.

L.

M is for... Miss-sold.

So my colleague Hannah ordered two dresses from missguided.co.uk and they arrived at our office today. Hannah was obviously excited to receive her new items, but upon opening them, the quality was such that she quickly became very disappointed. Needless to say the office were shocked- these came from on online retailer that made £1.2m in July alone! Here's some pictures of the first one..

S is for... Spray-On Clothes!

How cool is this!? Particle engineer Paul Luckham and fashion designer Manel Torres from Imperial College London have combined cotton fibres, polymers and a solvent to form a liquid that becomes a fabric when sprayed. So spray on jeans could actually be in our future! I guess it might not be quite as flattering as your favourite knit if you've eaten too much cake say... (not that I have ANY experience of that). But the practicality of having clothing that will definitely fit you, comes in a variation of colours, can be washed or dissolved and re-sprayed into another garment, is versatile enough to be worn in any season, and turns anyone who uses it into a fashion designer in their own right, is pretty cool as far as I'm concerned!

On Monday, a fashion show at Imperial will feature the first couture collection created with the material! So watch this space... We'll be spraying ourselves clothed in no time! And there'll be no wardrobe space issues, as your clothes will be dissolvable and easily stored! Just think of the suitcase space you could save on holiday...

I love science.

D is for... Dimbleby.

Just a quick one...

How good was David Dimbleby on Question Time The Riots Special last Thursday!?

'Yes I am aware that I am known as Dimble-Bot on Twitter. And yes I do know there's a Dimble dance, and I can do it. But this is neither the time nor the place.' (from memory- not verbatim)

LOVE HIM.

L.

M is for... Marc.

Look at this...

I want this, and you can get it for me from here.

Thanks.

R is for... Rugby.

So we lost the rugby, much to the delight of my new friends, The Welsh. I had an excellent time though- Millennium Stadium is rad and the atmosphere was incredible. It wasn't the most exciting game to watch, but I loved it. Unfortunately I was a bit of a douche and forgot the memory card for my camera, so i could only take photos on my phone, which sucked a bit. But I've got a few, you'll just have to excuse the quality...

The stadium holds 74,500 people. The crowds were crazy in Cardiff's centre- highlighted by the significant lack of police prescence (but maybe that's just a theme this week!?).

Z is for... Zizzi's

Just a quick post as I'm off to watch the rugby now! England v Wales at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff! (Already had the angry Dad phone call- 'How dare you go to the rugby without your Father!?') But I just wanted to say that I had an excellent meal in Zizzi's, Cheltenham last night. I'm not a big fan of chain restaurants, but this I definitely one of my favourites, as the building is a renovated church, and the atmosphere's really good. My photo doesn't do it any justice, so I won't bore you with that. But here's what I wore...

L is for... Lucie

Welcome to my blog! I'm Lucie and up until very recently I was a self-confessed blog hater. I thought anyone who wrote a blog must be a self-indulgent egotist with too much time on their hands (over-opinionated? Ignorant? Definitely). In any case, this blog will be a trial for me. I've recently started a new job in online fashion marketing and promotions and have come to learn that (successful) blogs are a very handy marketing tool- and thus, I have thrown myself into this in a bid to understand bloggers, and what it means to blog. The more I look for and read blogs, the more fascinating they become to me. And although I have no USP for my blog (I'm working on this), I have decided that I am going to blog about the things I do and the things I like. It's a learning curve that no doubt will form in a spiral of over-confidence round to bitter self-loathing, but hey, even writing this makes me a self-indulgent egotist with too much time on my hands by my own standards, so it can't get any worse...
