H is for... House hunting.

Just spent the whole afternoon having an (executive) meeting with my friends Jack, Calvin and Cat in The Norwood in Cheltenham. After we crashed a wedding last night (blog post to come, awaiting photos), we decided we would grab some lunch, nurse our hangovers and discuss Jack and Calvin's newest venture; house buying.

Having moved to Cheltenham recently, and currently staying with my Aunt until I get settled, I am (increasingly) keen to 'get settled' as soon as possible, and am looking to move. Jack and Calvin's house buying means that potentially I can live with them and help them with, or contribute to the mortgage (but this was too heavy to discuss with a hangover). We found a few properties that we are going to go and have a look at this week, but here are our two favourites.

St. Luke's

"A deceptively spacious gas centrally heated apartment located on the ground floor in this highly regarded area of St Lukes and within walking distance of the town centre. The property has its own private entrance as well as entrance via the communal hallway and briefly comprises sitting room, kitchen/breakfast room, master bedroom with en-suite shower room, two further bedrooms, bathroom. Residents permit parking is available."

This one's on the market for £165,000.

Bath Street

"A Victorian mid terraced home offering accommodation comprising living room with exposed treated floorboards, decorative cast iron fireplace, T.V./telephone points, arch to the staircase and an opening to a kitchen/breakfast room. The kitchen is fitted with a range of matching base level storage units with solid wood work surfaces over, ceramic sink unit, four ring gas hob with oven/grill under and space/plumbing for a domestic appliance. An opening leads to stairs down to the basement and there is open access to a rear lobby with doors to the bathroom and rear garden. The bathroom is fitted with a roll top freestanding bath with mixer tap/shower attachment, pedestal wash hand basin and W.C. The versatile basement room is currently used as a cinema room, is fully decorated and has power and light. On the first floor are two double bedrooms, both benefitting from T.V. aerial point and the master having an over stairs cupboard. To the rear is an enclosed courtyard garden, part decked and part laid to shingle with gated rear access. The property is warmed by gas fired central heating and is double glazed throughout."

This is the basement, which would potentially be my bedroom! (Some Joseph Fritzl jokes were made...)

This one's on the market for £154,950.

I think it was decided that a house was more likely to be a better investment, so we're going to have a look at others as well. I say 'us', when really I'm just along for the ride and to nose in other people's houses. In any case, they're not looking to move until after November, so in the mean time (with a little help from my parents!) I'm going to look for somewhere to rent short-term. I'm excited to go and look at some flats this week.

If you know anyone who has a flat in Cheltenham, definitely get in contact.
